The Meditation of Love

FacebookLinkedInPinterestShare

the meditation of loveEveryone wants more love in their life, don’t you? A great place to start is the meditation of love. Since the 2nd forgotten fundamental of life is energy flows builds, strengthens and charges where attention goes. Who would of thunk that a little focus on having love vs not having love could make a big difference.

Olivia Rosewood wrote over at the Huffington Post about shifting focus and presented a guided meditation we like to call…

The Meditation of Love

Click here to read what Olivia had to say about the meditation of love.
The interesting thing is you don’t have to do a formal guided meditation to get the benefits of more love in your life. Daydreaming or playing the game of… what would it be like if I was experiencing love to the fullest? And simply reveling in that feeling more and more will bring it into your experience.

And meditation is a great place to start. So if you want more love in your life share this with everybody you know.

Meditation Techniques – Zen In 30 Seconds

FacebookLinkedInPinterestShare

meditation techniquesAs December of 2012 draws nearer and nearer more and more people feel attracted to the mystical, spiritual side of thing so meditation techniques - zen in 30 seconds fits right in with what people are wanting either consciously or unconsciously. Wendy Leung wrote in The Globe and Mail about how she does zen in 30 seconds or less and you may be able to take advantage of it as well. Learning the process of getting in that calm zen mind frame can be very valuable.

Meditation Techniques – Zen In 30 Seconds

Sitting behind the wheel on a busy highway is an unlikely place to find inner peace.

But far from closing her eyes and zoning out, Janet Martin, an Oakville, Ont., executive coach and counsellor, uses her commute to Toronto to do a quick, micro-meditation.

As the CN Tower comes into view, she takes a few measured breaths to get rid of busy thoughts and refocuses her attention. “When I see that CN Tower, it’s just a reminder to me to come back to the present, to the traffic, to the sounds, to what’s happening around me,” Ms. Martin says. The mini-meditation not only helps reduce overall stress, it makes her a more attentive driver, she says.

She peppers her days with similar brief meditations to relax and attain clarity of mind. “People say crazy, cliché things like ‘it’s changed my life,’ but it does change your life over time.”

In recent years, research has revealed that meditation can actually rewire the brain and generally improve health, increasing one’s mental acuity, reducing blood pressure and even improving the immune system. However, science has yet to determine how much meditation is optimal, and what length and frequency of practice is required to achieve results.

Zoran Josipovic, a neuroscientist at New York University, studies the brains of Buddhist monks, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology to explore how meditation changes the brain’s networks. His subjects have anywhere between eight and 30 years of experience, meditating between half an hour to three hours a day, and going to annual retreats where they practise up to 12 hours daily. Micro-meditation, seized here and there amid the frenzy of modern life, seems paltry in comparison.

Dr. Josipovic says micro-meditation is likely more effective if you already know how to meditate.

There are multiple ways to do meditation techniques and if you have practiced it you should be able to do it most everywhere. Meditate To Lose Weight

Meditate To Lose WeightMost of you may have never heard of this but think about it for a second, meditate to lose weight… Now there is an idea. Dr. Harsimran Singh of Long Island, NY is actually going to be using meditation to help his clients lose the extra pounds. He wrote in a press release from over at PRWeb…

Meditate To Lose Weight

“It all starts with thoughts. Thoughts become words, words become actions and repeated actions become habits. Gaining excess weight is a direct result of bad habits. To achieve success in losing weight permanently, habits must be changed. It is very difficult to change habits as they are seated at the very deepest levels of our subconscious mind.

How can we change these deep-seated habits?

Meditation is the process through which we engage the subconscious level of mind with the conscious level of mind. This way the power of mind is increased tremendously as the subconscious level of mind is a million times more powerful than the conscious level of mind. Meditation takes the mind to the deepest level of the subconscious state where the mind controls the body, not the other way around. The mind, in this powerful state, is able to dictate to the body to lose weight by changing some habits which are the root cause of the problem.

Read more about losing the weight through meditation.

As a long time meditation practitioner and a master hypnotist what Dr.Singh describes about is more hypnosis than classical meditation. It might could be classified as guided meditation and yet the focus on the conscious and unconscious mind is terminology that is associated with hypnosis where meditation is associated with the more than or connecting with divinity.

I agree that connecting with divinity can provide the calmness and relaxation need to allow the body to shed a few pounds or more.

So whether it is meditate to lose weight or hypnosis or guided meditation I suspect it can’t hurt and if it can’t hurt there is a better than 50/50% change it can really help. I applaud Dr. Singh’s new program.

Meditation Tips For Beginners

FacebookLinkedInPinterestShare

Every day more and more people are turning to meditation to help make their lives better. Here are some non-typical mediation tips for beginners that I stumbled upon over at stumbleupon.com

Meditation Tips For Beginners

Meditation is simple
You don’t need any special props, training, tutoring or complicated instructions to meditate, and you can do it in all sorts of places. Though it helps to have a quiet place when you first start, that doesn’t mean that one can’t meditate on a bus or train, or even at a concert.
All you need to know is these three steps: Find a comfortable seat (it’s fine if it’s in a chair, it can be on the floor, it can be outside or indoors). I find cross-legged on the floor with my back leaning against a couch for support works great. Next, close your eyes. Breathe normally for a three or four breaths, then take four or five deeper breaths, focusing on the air moving in an out of your lungs. Then, keeping your eyes closed, just sit. When thoughts come into your head, push them aside gently, keeping your mind open and clear of anything in particular.
This last part is the most challenging. But just keep going, and keep practicing it. As thoughts float across your mind, just push them away, and keep sitting and breathing. That’s it.
Meditation isn’t easy
While meditation is simple, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Even though it seems like you’re just sitting quietly, until you are used to it, meditating can be a real challenge. It’s hard to know if you’re doing it ‘right,’ it’s not always obvious in what position you can sit for 15 minutes without moving too much, and how do you keep track of time when you’re supposed to be not thinking about anything anyway? (I use the timer on my phone and have been adding a minute a week. I started at 8 minutes and am now at 13.  I think I’ll stop at 15, because that’s what feels right to me.)
It’s OK that meditation isn’t easy; and it’s less frustrating if you go into it thinking there might be a few challenges for you, and that it’s normal for it to be so.
Make meditation yours
You’ll hear all kinds of advice about meditation. That  you should do if for a certain amount of time X times per day (many people say twice a day for 20 minutes a session). That you should chant mantras (some people like to, I don’t.). That you should visualize things like flower petals, clouds or ocean waves. That you shouldn’t use visualizations because they are distracting. That you shouldn’t have music on when you meditate, or that you should.
Try out what works for you. I find I like different kinds of meditation on different days, and as a person who doesn’t really like a regular schedule or following rules, it works for me to mix it up. The opposite might be true for you – maybe the same time, same place, same breathing sequence and mantra is how you will make meditation yours. But you’ll never know unless you try.

Meditation Techniques For Anxiety

FacebookLinkedInPinterestShare

I found an article about 5 meditation techniques for anxiety and I agree they are all good but I realized that one simple easy instant meditation made all 5 of these meditation techniques for anxiety work better.

The 5 mediation techniques for anxiety are from bajarpesoorlando.com

Here are 5 top rated relaxation tips.

1) Diaphragmatic Breathing: Whenever we feel nervous we might begin to hyperventilate, taking really shallow breaths. For this reason the most effective relaxation techniques for anxiety is to inhale and exhale while using full capacity of one’s lungs. To do this, imagine that you are breathing into your belly instead of your own chest. Your belly ought to rise and fall each time you breathe in and out.

2) Visualization: Visualization is a good way of getting your mind far from anything that’s causing you to feel nervous, and training it to feel more calm even in the course of circumstances in which you wouldn’t normally feel comfortable. Imagine, in detail, sights, sounds, smells and sensations that you’d sense if you were in a location which made you feel peaceful and cozy, like when you are on vacation.

3) Hypnosis: There are a selection of self-hypnosis relaxation guides accessible in MP3 form. These will assist you to guide your mind away from thoughts which make you feel burdened or anxious, and may help guide you through particular techniques to help your whole body relax, including progressive muscle relaxation. You will find many of these for free or low cost on the web or even as an app on your smartphone. Make sure you select one linked to your unique problem. For example, you can find self-hypnosis MP3s designed for social anxiety if your nervousness pops up during interpersonal situations, or you might pick self-hypnosis made to enable you to sleep better if your nervousness is actually elevated due to a lack of sleep.

4) Timed Breathing: If you’re anxious and then try to inhale deeply you may well find it hard and actually begin to hyperventilate. Instead of attempting to inhale and exhale deeply, for rapid relaxation prior to or perhaps during nervous instances you could try timing your own inhaling and exhaling. For example, try inhaling for a count of five, and out for a count of seven. Increasing the out-breath is actually proven to help relax your body’s nervous system, and the counting provides you with something different to focus your mind on.

5) Enhance Your Sleep: Though it’s not a relaxation method in the same way as those above, having enough sleep is essential for keeping you feeling physically and mentally calm. When you don’t get enough sleep you may start to feel nervous, and the other way around. Some tips include recording any worries on a sheet of paper before going to sleep to help get all of them out of your head. It’s also wise to avoid caffeinated drinks, and get physical exercise early on in the day.

Christian Mobile Apps: ‘Five-Minute Christian Meditation’

FacebookLinkedInPinterestShare

When it comes to meditation it seems some times Christians are left out. Technology to the rescue, now we have Christian Mobile Apps: ‘Five-Minute Christian Meditation’. Christians are taught to pray and are seldom taught the listening part of pray. There is the talking aspect of prayer which is asking and there is the listening part of prayer which is contemplative or meditative.

This is from global.christianpost.com

White Buffalo Solutions’ iPhone application “Five-Minute Christian Meditation” helps Christians master the art of meditation.

This faith-based app offers users a choice of four meditation techniques. These techniques are based on the messages an individual needs to discover within God’s word.

The app’s official website mentioned the forgotten art of meditation: “In many ways, Christian meditation is a lost art. It is not actively practiced by many Christians today. White Buffalo Solutions created The Five-Minute Christian Meditation to provide Christians with a simple tool to learn to incorporate meditation into their dailyworship. It can be a first step in learning the art of Christian meditation as well as a way to refocus and recharge.”

According to the app’s website, users of the app can enhance their experience through a few techniques, such as being in a completely relaxed state, closing one’s eyes after memorizing a Bible verse, and then repeating a verse multiple times.

The website also offered a summary on how the app can help Christian followers.

“The Five-Minute Christian Meditation iPhone app will assist you with learning the important art of meditation. It will fill your mind with Word of God and its empowering language. Each meditation will guide you through a brief meditation on three verses from the Bible,” said the app’s website.

The “Five-Minute Christian Meditation” app is currently sold on the Apple App Store for $0.99. It is compatible with the iPhone 4S and past models of the iPhone. Apple’s iTouch and iPad users can also operate the app.
